ATHLETE / TWIF RESPONSIBILITIES FOR ANTI DOPING AWARENESS

To comply with World Anti Doping Authority (WADA) and in order to become fully code compliant, it is essential that all athletes involved in our sport are fully aware of their own responsibilities and that of TWIF.

Before competing in any TWIF Championship:

TUE

All athletes who are taking any prescribed medication must always notify the TWIF Doping Administrator (TWIF DA), before their participation in any TWIF Championships or World Games, in the recognised way:

with a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) form, completed by the athlete and signed by both the athlete and their Doctor (these forms can be downloaded from the TWIF website). The completed form should then be forwarded either by email or postal mail to the TWIF DA, before the relevant Championships.

Failure to comply will be classed as a positive doping test.

Whereabouts Programme

Whereabouts must be submitted quarterly in advance:

1st quarter January - March

2nd quarter April - June

3rd quarter July - September

4th quarter October - December

Athletes are responsible for notifying the TWIF DA of their Whereabouts details for entry into the WADA System (ADAMS). Some National Anti Doping Authorities (NADAs) may offer instruction to athletes which allow them to complete these details directly into the ADAMS. Unfortunately this is not always possible, it is then the athlete must

complete a Whereabouts Puller Details Form (these forms can be downloaded from the TWIF website). The completed form should then be forwarded either by email or postal mail to the TWIF DA. He/she will then enter all the necessary details into ADAMS.

it is the athletes responsibility to keep their Whereabouts Details up to date, and they must inform the TWIF DA of any changes made to their Whereabouts once these have been submitted.

Failure to do so would be classed as a positive doping test.

Registered Testing Pool

The TWIF testing pool at present, and for the foreseeable future, will be drawn from the countries who have athletes (including the team coaches) participating in the World Games. At the discretion of TWIF, the testing pool may be increased to include all athletes participating at all TWIF Championships. It is therefore essential that athletes complete both TUE and Whereabouts to avoid a positive doping test result.

Athletes must be aware it is their own responsibility to keep their Whereabouts Details up to date and the completion of any necessary TUE forms, failure to do so will incur a positive test result.

TWIF will continue to support the WADA Rules with both in competition and out of competition testing taking place. This will help to ensure we maintain our IOC recognition, which has taken many years to obtain.

TWIF have an Anti Doping Rules book, a copy of this has been passed to all International Representatives, if you are unsure on any item concerning doping please ask your International Representative for a copy or go to the TWIF website www.tugofwar-twif.org
